About

In life, sometimes we can feel ‘stuck’ or overwhelmed by difficult or distressing emotions or situations which act as a block in leading a healthy and personally fulfilled life. This continuous loop can keep us encased in these emotions and prevents us moving forward.

Counselling provides a safe and confidential space where we can explore these difficult thoughts and feelings, in context to relationship and environment around you. This gentle exploration, using a variety of professional skills and techniques, can help you on the road to recovery and help you to a new found acceptance, growth and resilience.

My name is Lauren and I am a fully qualified therapeutic counsellor and Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling Psychotherapy (MBACP).  I presently work with children, young people and adults with a range of issues from general mental health problems and day-to-day difficulties, through to more complex and deeply rooted traumatic experiences that have happened in the past, or remain ongoing in the present.

As an Integrative Counsellor I offer talking therapy, however, I also draw on a variety of techniques tailored for each client. This could be creative therapy for example play, art or drama, or systemically where we look at relational dynamics between family, friends and loved ones. Creative therapy helps to unlock deep emotions, otherwise unknown or hidden to ourselves. Systemic therapy explores your life and the relationships in it which help provide an insight in ways we relate to others and the way others relate to us, exploring any potential patterns of relating. These specialised skills can help to shift perceptions and obtain a better understanding of yourself and those around you. In turn, this promotes personal growth and a sense of ‘moving forward’ to a new sense of freedom and clarity.

I work both privately with clients who may self-refer themselves to counselling in confidence, as well as receiving referrals from charities and organisations in the local area.  For more information, please go to Services and from there we can discuss the best way to work together.
